Installing Victron BMV-700 February 14, 2017, 04:07:28 pm In the next few days I'll be installing a new battery monitor in my 2014 Twin King. I plan to drill a hole in the top on the battery compartment for the UTP cable. Drilling will be less of an issue then trying to dig out all the sealant the factory has used on the factory installed wires. My question - what type of sealant should I use to plug the new drilled hole or could I just let it go?As an aside I plan complete report and many images on this job.
Re: Installing Victron BMV-700 Reply #1 – February 14, 2017, 05:17:13 pm I just did that to install a Balmar Smartgauge a few days ago. The hole I drilled was just big enough for the wires to be snaked through. Once the wires were in place and secured with tie wraps on both sides, I just squeezed some caulking I had in an already opened tube into the hole. After all, the hole in the ceiling of a closed compartment. The caulk is sufficient to keep critters out.Ed 1 Likes

Battery condition.I just installed it a few days ago so I don't have much direct experience. Andy does and thinks highly of it. That was good enough for me. The install and setup was quite easy even for a electronic challenged person like me. Ed

Re: Installing Victron BMV-700 Reply #5 – February 15, 2017, 10:35:55 am I just installed the Viltron in our mid-bath. I drilled a 13/32 hole in the front inside corner of the battery compartment just below other wires exiting the box. I used DAP Dynaflex 230 caulking to seal the hole.
Re: Installing Victron BMV-700 Reply #7 – February 15, 2017, 06:26:16 pm The Victron is mounted and centered between the range hood and the microwave. I followed Larry's advice and ran the UTP cable up the back of the fridge in a length of PEX tubing.
