Re: 2001 MB on craigslist Reply #1 – February 07, 2017, 11:07:25 am I agree with the OP and I would think it would sale quickly especially since it is lower mileage and a Calif. LD (nicer weather).

Re: 2001 MB on craigslist Reply #5 – February 07, 2017, 11:58:57 am I would think the owner will e-mail more recent photos if requested.
Re: 2001 MB on craigslist Reply #6 – February 07, 2017, 12:17:43 pm I think the owners of this rig are Steve and Emily Chandler; I have no knowledge of the condition of the rig, but I believe that it would be worth looking into. Joan 2 Likes
Re: 2001 MB on craigslist Reply #7 – February 07, 2017, 09:37:52 pm This rig was posted for a while a few weeks ago and then taken down. Now that it's back up, they reduced the price. I contacted the owner previously and he said no way would he reduce the price. Looks like he might be ready to deal. I didn't pursue it because it was up for sale for a while. Looks like a nice rig though.
Re: 2001 MB on craigslist Reply #8 – February 07, 2017, 09:54:55 pm There you go that's a nicer newer model with 54000 miles and looks well cared for and a good price spend a little more to get the newest one possible. 2 Likes
Re: 2001 MB on craigslist Reply #9 – February 07, 2017, 10:22:58 pm I considered it which is why I contacted him, but I really want something shorter. I want to tow my car, so I think a shorter rig would be better for me. He had it up for $20,199 for a couple of weeks.
Re: 2001 MB on craigslist Reply #10 – February 07, 2017, 10:54:31 pm Since MB's are in such high demand, it seems odd that this one, which appears to be in good shape with low miles, at a reasonable price, has not been snapped up. The photos, as noted, are from 2014, and they look like they were taken to advertise the rig. Was it on the market previously and didn't sell back then?I'm not interested in purchasing, but intrigued.Matt 1 Likes

IMHO the function of towing a car is pretty much the same regardless of length of LD. Others may differ.Chris 3 Likes

And the longer wheelbase will give a better ride. My first motor home was a 23'er short wheelbase. And my 26.5' LD rides so much better.

Class C motorhomes may be built on different chassis with different wheel bases, have more or less behind-the-rear-axle "overhang", different tank and appliance (and possibly, slide) and storage compartment placements, and (more than) some may be overloaded. In my experience, there are many "build, balance, load" variables among all sizes of class C motorhomes which affect handling. Not suggesting that a 26.5' LD doesn't ride well, just that longer wheelbase on its own doesn't necessarily offer a smoother ride than a shorter rig. JoanLonger wheelbases in general always improve the ride of a vehicle. Thats why a Suburban rides better that a Tahoe. Or a Limo rides so well over a shorter version of the same car. Sure the way a vehicle is loaded can effect the ride. But overall the longer wheelbase smooth's the ride out.
Re: 2001 MB on craigslist Reply #15 – February 08, 2017, 11:07:30 am Total newbie here when it comes to towing a car with a motorhome. I have towed a RV trailer, though, and know that hitch weight can affect carrying capacity, load, etc. Is it the same when towing a car? Capacity wise, would it be better to tow with a shorter rig than a longer one (24' vs. 31')?
Re: 2001 MB on craigslist Reply #16 – February 08, 2017, 12:36:20 pm I know the ride would be better with a longer rig and maybe I'll get a 26' later but, as a newbie and after having driven my neighbors's 26' LD, it felt a little overwhelming for me. I'd get used to it I'm sure but, for my nerves, I'd like to go smaller to start. As so many have said, it likely won't be my last rig.

FL, for 75,000 miles, works fine except on long, steep upgrades. Same problem all LDs have.Having driven 27' and 31' models, with toads attached, I prefer the shorter length for towing, they are long enough to be stable and short enough for easier maneuvering in parking lots and service stations.Any length LD will tow fine, as long as the weight is under control.LarryLarry 2 Likes

When comparing two indentical RVs, except for the length, the longer wheel base will ride better. While this is very noticeable in a car or SUV, it isn't as much in a Class C's cab. In cars, the driver's seat is in between the front and rear axles. In a LD's cab, the driver's seat is almost on top of the front axle, who negates much of the longer wheelbase advantages. In real world usage, weight loading, tire pressure, shocks and the condition of the suspension has as much an influence, on the ride, as the wheel base.Larry 1 Likes
Re: 2001 MB on craigslist Reply #19 – February 09, 2017, 05:38:48 am Well, I posted earlier about going to see a 2001 MB LD- this is the Rig! We just got back a couple days ago. I don't even know where to begin about this experience. If someone is going to look at it contact me privately. We obviously did Not buy it and spent much time driving there, dealing with the Owner and learned a big lesson. We have owned LD's and are still looking for our next one. Sandra
Re: 2001 MB on craigslist Reply #20 – February 09, 2017, 08:00:09 am Sorry to hear that Sandra; a better one is just around the corner. The sharing of experiences (and helpful knowledge) are in my mind the biggest asset of this forum. I suspect others looking for their first (or more) LD would benefit from hearing about your findings, and the dialogue that follows in open forum discussion. Matt 1 Likes

SandraSorry to hear that, I was hoping to hear you were the proud owner of a new to you LD. I found the old photos suspicious to start with so I guess I'm not surprised it has some issues. Too bad, there are so few lazy daze out there I hate to see relatively new ones with problems.
