vent cover replacement
Anyone have a source for the escape vent cover 26 x 26 opening?  I found the Ventline covers for the 14" openings on Amazon.
Also, on re-seating the old vent frames, what is the best sealant to use? The putty strips or something better?  I'm going to have to remove the frame in order to repair some of the roof wood as it has rotted away around the frame due to old leaks (previous owner).  Might turn out to be a biiiig job but I have time on my side.
I want to get all the parts before I start.

2000 IB 26 1/2  .Just had lid only replaced from the Mothership.  My RV guy did have to drill out rivets from hinge and replace with stainless screws.  Wasn't a big problem according to him. Norma Taylor

Don't know what year you rig is, but that is a size used in the 80's - 90's. For our '83 I found a replacement at Camping World parts dept - but that was about 18 years ago. Hopefully they or LD still carries them, or can point you to a source. Important too is to specify the mating hinge type on the frame, or get it complete with the whole hinge. After repairs, a polybutylene tape should be used between frame and roof, followed with a top-quality sealant such as 3M 5200 on top . Some like Eternabond tape, but that does not always seal well to its own white UV covering, so it can be tricky at corners.

Lazy Daze no longer has the replacement lid and referred me to Hengs Industries for my 26" x 26" escape hatch lid for my '87.  On contacting Hengs via phone  I made sure of my model number but found they do not "do retail" and referred me to Camping World, one of their dealers.  I called two stores and they were not interested in helping me, promised to call back and never did.  So I finally got smart and looked on Amazon and Ebay and found the lid and ordered it paying with PayPal.  Waited for the free shipping (week) and when it arrived I see it came from Indiana where Hengs is located and the inside wrapping had Hengs marked on it.  Anyway, I'm a do it yourself guy and will install the lid soon as rain is coming!
