Newbies in Texas February 01, 2017, 08:30:02 am Greetings, fellow travellers, from two LD newbies. My husband and I just purchased a well-loved 1997 23.5' LD this last weekend. We'll be taking our maiden voyage, hopefully, in Kerrville-Schreiner Park in Kerrville, Texas this weekend. It's not too far away from our home in San Antonio, just in case we forget something! We're long-time tent campers, so we're looking forward to this upgrade in our living arrangements. We're also looking forward to learning lots about our sweet, little camper from this forum as well as meeting some of you on the trail. Happy trails from the beautiful Texas Hill Country! 5 Likes

Re: Newbies in Texas Reply #4 – February 01, 2017, 01:52:52 pm Welcome to the LDO Forum fellow Texans. We can tell you're excited and ready to hit the road. The LD adventure is certainly an exciting chapter in our life. There are a good number of current and former LD owners in Texas. We've visited or emailed about 6-8 owners in the last 18 months to include several in the San Antonio - Austin area. I suspect there are many more too.For what it's worth, I went to college in San Antonio in the 60's (50 years ago ... dang!). In those days, Loop 410 was the outskirts of the city. The area campgrounds were never crowded and we were often the only tent campers in the park during the winter months. At any rate, welcome again and we hope our paths will cross. 2 Likes

Our new LD is on order with an April delivery, we hope.We spent several days in Fredericksburg years ago when we took our two month jaunt through Oklahoma and Texas. Neat town and beautiful area. But we were most impressed by the honesty of the citizenry. We parked our "toad" -- a black Vespa 250 -- in an unmetered (!) spot right on the main drag. In a senior moment, I left the keys dangling in the ignition, highlighted by a bright yellow tag spinning in the breeze. After wandering the shops, attractions, and a lunch stop, we returned 6 hours later to find it just where we left it, keys still hanging out. I think here in LA it would have been "gone in sixty seconds." -- Jon (06 TK Albatross and its rear-end buddy, Grackle) 1 Likes
