1986 Lazy Daze 22 1/2 ft - Chevy chassis
I am going to look at one of these that seems reasonably priced.  I typically prefer Ford engine/undercarriage.  Any opinion of the LD on this platform?

Thanks.

Do yourself a favor and look for a 1990 LD or newer.
1986 LDs have carburetors and are lacking overdrive transmissions.
The front cap and front window leak. This is a huge issue with all LDs of that vintage.
The majority of pre-1990 LDs, that I have looked at over the last twenty years, have had leaks,  usually along with rot.
Electronic fuel injection and overdrive transmissions are 'must haves',  IMO.

For a good guide to the changes through the years, see Andy's 'Changes by the years' link.

Larry,
Very good points. I just purchased '88 MB wit fuel injection and a three speed C6 and I already wish I had overdrive.

Thanks.  I checked the changes by  year and see 1990 was the switch to the Ford E350 with electronic fuel injection and OD.  Maybe I will keep looking.

Do keep an eye on the chassis model number. Any 26' or longer LD, on a E350 chassis, isn't going to have much CCC.
1996 was the first year that the Wide-Body 26' models, with increased the GVW, became available. The chassis was call the 'E350 Super Duty' and had a 14,050-lbs GVW.
In 1997, it became the 'E450'.

Even the 23.5' E350s can be easily overloaded. The short LDs (23.5' models) received the upgraded, wide-body E450 chassis in the 2003 model year, a big improvement over earlier models.
