V10 tuner December 28, 2016, 09:41:44 am I've read some good things about this tuner regarding improved performance, and to limited extent mpg. I would welcome feedback from anyone who has installed one:1997-2018 5.4L, 6.2L, 6.7L & 6.8L RV/MOTORHOME! 5 Star Tuning X4 with the 5...
Re: V10 tuner Reply #1 – December 31, 2016, 11:10:45 am Interesting idea. I chipped my diesel and gained a little horsepower, quite a bit of torque, and the fuel consumption decreased. It was a noticeable and measurable improvement. We really like it and haven't seen a problem in the 5 years and 50K miles since we had it done, except blown transmissions (2, 4R100) due to the increased torque and my heavy foot with big loads. (triple axle trailer and commercial fishing boat).Unfortunately, most gas engine tuners yield a modest increase in horsepower, frequently at higher revs (this tuner does show an increase at lower revs) and also increase fuel consumption. The results of the test article showed an average 3.7% fuel mileage decrease in the class A motorhome. Considering the modest increase in horsepower curves, I'll stay stock. If we had diesels, it would be a different story.Harold

Re: V10 tuner Reply #3 – December 31, 2016, 12:33:39 pm I installed a 5 star tuner on my V-10 powered Chinook Glacier, ran it for a summer then took it off. While the tuner did improve power slightly, as mentioned above it did it at higher RPM's and my fuel mileage dropped slightly. Shift points were held longer (again higher RPM's) but less downshifts on slight inclines was a plus. After installing the tuner, at times I would notice a slight ping from the engine, the use of premium fuel helped put the tuner was supposed to work with 87 fuel. Went back to factory tuning and will stick with that...Robert 1 Likes
