Pulled the trigger yesterday November 02, 2016, 10:01:58 am After three years of looking through ads, visiting owners with rigs for sale, shamelessly asking people we met in campgrounds if they would consider selling their Lazy Daze, trolling this site for technical knowledge and opinions, and visiting Todd at the shop in Montclair, we bought our Lazy Daze yesterday. We found a new listing for a 2014 27MB on Craigslist on Sunday night and drove up to the LA area Monday morning and bought it. 13,000 miles and very clean. It has the exterior color, floorplan, and interior colors and finish that my wife was lusting for. Back up camera, electric step, 15 hours on the generator, 2 solar panels, full-width trailering mudflap, bilsteins, and satellite TV antenna that we likely wont ever use. We pick it up this Sunday and then I start with projects and minor modifications!I'm looking forward to meeting more of you out on the road and in campsites, but I won't have that hungry look anymore.HD 7 Likes

Re: Pulled the trigger yesterday Reply #2 – November 02, 2016, 12:01:56 pm HD,Super news! Congratulations on a wonderful find. Seems that, as of late, those who were on the grand hunt have circled their prey and wrung it in.Yippee cowpokes now the real ride begins.Instead of the hunt, with all its anxious anticipation, now comes the eager desire to travel. To find those new gems or visit old haunts. And that old time favorite, "Hey, did I tell you about my LD"?Book those campsites or just hit the road. It's all good. It's all yours. And as always, We'll see ya on the road.Kent 3 Likes

Re: Pulled the trigger yesterday Reply #6 – November 02, 2016, 03:30:53 pm Congratulations I saw that listing too but it's a bit more than we could swing. Seemed like a wonderful chance to get nearly new.
Re: Pulled the trigger yesterday Reply #7 – November 02, 2016, 07:22:30 pm It was more than I was comfortable spending also, but it met all of my wife's wants and "needs", so I figured that it would be wiser to spend the money than explain to her why she isn't worth the large expense.I will share that I used the NADA RV report for a starting price in negotiations, and then worked up toward the Lazy Daze asking price list that Chris posted. I had printed both prior to going into the office so that I had some hard numbers to work from, but didn't show Chris's numbers to the dealer. The dealer was flexible (until we reached his bottom, inflexible line), and I'm sure that in they end, they made a boatload of $$ between what they gave the previous owner and what I paid for it.The previous owner took good care of it and moved up to a larger and more expensive coach, according to the dealer. Negotiating with a dealer is easier than with an owner because they aren't emotionally involved with the coach and aren't offended by a lowball offer.HD 3 Likes

Re: Pulled the trigger yesterday Reply #10 – November 03, 2016, 12:22:25 am Thanks for the warm encouragement. We are pretty excited about getting this rig.It is really nice to hear from Bill and Linda in reply #8 above. About a month ago, my wife and I had just settled into camp when they drove their beautiful rig into the same campground in Hamilton, Montana. Wife, dog, and I immediately went over and made pests of ourselves asking lots of questions about their Lazy Daze. They were both warm, friendly and gracious, and Linda was even nice to our wacko German Shepherd. We asked if they were interested in selling, and after Bill returned home, he sent me a really thoughtful note explaining why he doesn't want to sell the rig. We really enjoyed meeting both of them and it was good to hear how much they like their rig. Very nice people!Bill, we live in San Diego. What is winter? That means desert season, right?I'll post a picture (if I can figure out how) after we pick up the coach this weekend. On another note, the dealership attempted to sell us a $9,000 maintenance warranty package, which I quickly declined. It seems to me that a Lazy Daze 2 years with 13,000 miles shouldn't need that kind of warranty. Am I correct?HD
Re: Pulled the trigger yesterday Reply #11 – November 03, 2016, 12:29:10 am Harold,If the Mothrrship doesn't offer an extended warranty there is a darned good reason for it.I used to waste my money on extended warranties and have truly regretted every penny I threw down the drain. There's a good reason they sell them. Cause they enjoy a good laugh...all the way to the bank.Just sayin'Kent
Re: Pulled the trigger yesterday Reply #12 – November 03, 2016, 07:45:20 am Harold, congratulations on the LD. I think you were correct in NOT purchasing an extended warranty. Ford will warranty the chassis and components to either 5 years (clock starts with previous owners) or 60,000 miles. All appliances come with their own warranties, some may have expired. The coach itself should be solid at this point. Best wishes and safe travels.
Re: Pulled the trigger yesterday Reply #13 – November 03, 2016, 05:37:37 pm Re: "extended warranty"Ditto all that's been said...plus where you live is closer to the Mothership & many LD Wizards (especially Larry), & Morro Bay/etc. will offer many opportunities to hobnob with Wizards that those of us east of the Rockies are less able to avail ourselves of (I suppose my whining about no LD Wizards R US franchise back this way could get to be like "coffee," but it never hurts to dream ). Best wishes for many happy trails.Lynne
