Thousand Trails vs cousin's driveway!
We read here after first buying our LD to wait before joining TT. Yesterday was the day! While in the Hershey (Penna) area, we stumbled into the TT Hershey location and took a tour. This is the 3rd park on the East coast we've been through. All 3 meet or exceed our needs.  TT has parks in areas we want to spend at least 30 days a year in, so the 2 zone passes effectively give us 30 days of camping fot $15/night. To the extent we go beyond 30 nights, we're at $3. We've typically paid $50+ to camp in some of these areas. (Jersey shore, Hershey) - this will make camping much more affordable. We can switch the zones annually (we signed a 4 year contract to get $100 off). We paid $425 for the 1st year. We passed on the $5,000 elite lifetime upgrade even though this great deal only comes around once a year during the Hershey RV show!🙄

(We are camped in my cousin's driveway now).

In our experience, joining TT can be a good thing. We had some good, bad and great experiences with them.

The business model is interesting, and ensures things will change, as they are part of a publicly traded business that has to perform financially. And can afford to invest capital in parks in popular areas.

If you are setting up in commercial campgrounds, it is likely your membership will pay off. Ours did. But we camped while working when we used TT, and had a giant travel trailer outfit. Now we stick to forest lands mostly, with a state park thrown in for dumping, filling, electric.

Enjoy the TT membership, I know some full timers who say it is the one membership they would retain.
