BlueOx Service
We took our LD and tow to BlueOx in Pender, Neb.  Customer service was simply off the chart. Wonderful.  BlueOx owners are allowed to stay at their full service CG at no charge any time you want.  No service is required.

The Blue Ox tow system has a triple clamp which is connected to the vehicle with a retaining pin. The triple clamp is screwed onto the leg and held in place with a small pin.  If you are able to wiggle or feel movement in the triple clamp, then it has become compromised and needs to be replaced.

I thought I'd pass along this piece of recent information.

I use a Blue Ox towbar, but I have no idea what this 'triple clamp' might be. Which towbar do you have, and where in the system is this item? A link to info?

I think I know what he means.  The Blue Ox plate has two pins, about an inch in diameter, that snap-turn lock into the tow plate.  The other end of those pins has a slot and a half inch retaining pin.  The tow bar end has a piece with three "fingers" that fit on the pin.  The slot in the pin gets the middle finger  ;D and the two outer fingers bracket the pin.  The three finger piece and the pin are held together by the half inch retaining pin.  The assembled system is free to pivot but very solid.

If this is the case, then I guess my system is new enough that there hasn't been any wear yet at this point.

I did get a call from someone at Blue Ox the other day wanting to know if I was satisfied with my purchase after a year and had found any problems - which I had not. Pretty unusual and pleasant to get such personalized follow-up from a company...

I missed the subsequent question, which Ken F. answered perfectly.  That head screws onto the leg and is pinned.  It's the piece that connects to the towed vehicle.  If that screwed and pinned head wiggles, it needs replacement.  Btw, we have a Aventa LX.  Hope this helps.
