Swamp cooler question
Yahoo Message Number: 160081
Being in Moab for 10 days dried me out thoroughly. In desperation we tried out the swamp cooler and were pleased when it worked well pouring needed moisture into the coach. Since then, to our surprise it turns itself on when we are driving. The switch is on the off position. The Ext/cool switch is balanced in the middle. It doesn't run when the rig is stopped, but I can't stop it from working when the rig is running. ?? This has only occurred since Moab. Not sure I care. The water is off but. ......

Hi Sandra. If the swamp cooler blows air while the rig is moving, it could just be the air flow outside moving the fan. I'm only familiar with the recair cooler. The water reservoir will have some water left in it. It will slop out onto the floor when moving. If the manual water valve is left open and there is residual pressure, or the water pump is on, it will keep feeding water to the reservoir, giving the appearance that it is running. Make sure the valve is off, and pull the fuse, then see if it still seems to run. HTH RonB.

Thank you. No water from the cooler and it is so strange as this has not happened in the past. Will pull the fuse, though why it should run now ...... huh. Wonder if it always did but had the vanes closed and didn't know about the air flow. Will close them tomorrow and see what happens first before pulling the fuse.
