looking for help with fuses January 06, 2016, 03:53:31 pm Yahoo Message Number: 157962I recently bought a 1992 26.5 MB. Putting it back into perfect order is a long term project, but I am stumped now. The windshield washers don't spray, and I don't want to go on the road without washers if I can help it.The lines are clear, the pump runs if wired to 12v, but there is no current to the wires going into the pump, so I have an electric issue somewhere upstream. Hopefully it is a fuse. No manual accompanied my LD though. I have tried to find a bad fuse, but all are good. Maybe I missed one. Could someone with a '92 manual tell me: - Is the washer and wiper on the same fuse? (My wipers work, so if they use the same fuse, that is not my problem. - What number/position is the washer fuse?If not a fuse, I will start at the switch on the stalk and work from there. Thanks for the help! Paul

Re: looking for help with fuses Reply #2 – January 06, 2016, 06:11:37 pm Yahoo Message Number: 157967No, I checked those next to the steering column. I will get into the power box in the engine compartment next. One thing led to another, and I spent most of the day cleaning the engine and the cowl area. Thanks!
Re: looking for help with fuses Reply #3 – January 06, 2016, 08:20:22 pm Yahoo Message Number: 157970You can usually download an owners manual online for the vehicle. If not I am sure you can find dine for either a e150,250,350. The electrical is usually clase enough that any of these would identify the fuse circuits. The cutaway is real close to a regular van in many ways..This should be your fuse layout.. but no guarantees.. http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/fordguy4u/2010-05-18_200919_A1.pdfGood Luck Garry

Re: looking for help with fuses Reply #5 – January 06, 2016, 09:16:02 pm Yahoo Message Number: 157973Thanks Garry, this is exactly what I was looking for- I was not looking for a breaker, so tomorrow I'll give it a look-see.
Re: looking for help with fuses Reply #6 – January 06, 2016, 09:50:54 pm Yahoo Message Number: 157975I was able to download a 1996 Owners manual, which is the oldest Ford has digitized. But with that and the Haynes book and help from people here, I can piece it together.

Re: looking for help with fuses Reply #8 – January 10, 2016, 02:27:00 am Yahoo Message Number: 158016I am making progress. On Garry's advice I signed up to JustAsk.com, and got good support. I found an eliminated the washer module as a culprit, so it looks like I need a new multi switch- the stalk on the steering column. About $52 part, and fairly easy to replace.
Re: looking for help with fuses Reply #9 – January 20, 2016, 01:13:20 pm Yahoo Message Number: 158225Conclusion- Ed and Margee you asked to read the outcome-The wiper switch was not the issue, so now I have a spare turn signal/wiper stalk switch. I put the new one in, reserved the original. The advise I got about testing the circuit from Just Ask was undoubtedly correct, but though I can do many things, electric is the flat spot on my wheel. So I went into "parts replacement" mode. The only other part in the system for a '92 is a module unit under the passenger dash board. I was very lucky to find one that fit on Ebay for a very good price. Once it arrived and I plugged it in, all wiper functions returned to normal. Thanks to everyone for support!

It sounds like you scored on this issue and more importantly, it didn't make an old man out of you. I'm working on a plumbing problem for my daughter and it has caused me to speak in tongues! Take care and thank you for the follow-up.Ed & Margee Fort Worth
