Re: Photo of worn tire stem Reply #2 – November 10, 2015, 07:10:52 pm Yahoo Message Number: 156917Kathy, I don't have the info you're looking for, but I do have an idea about preventing a reoccurence. Here is what I have done very successfully for years on three LD's.I use double stick tape but Eternabond would work as well. Cut a little tab of the stuff and wedge it between the valve stem and the wheel liner with the glue side towards the liner. This puts a small, flexible insulator between the two metal surfaces which, at least in my case, prevented any contact between the stem and the wheel.EdGoogle shows Americas Tire Store with really good reviews.
Re: Photo of worn tire stem Reply #3 – November 10, 2015, 08:25:35 pm Yahoo Message Number: 156919Thanks, Thomas S., Chris, and Ed. I'm at the LD factory parking lot overnight, guaranteeing an 8 am start on another issue/upgrade. LD does not have a tire place to recommend, although Todd did give me info for Borg and I've talked with Bill Falkenborg. After my LD work is completed tomorrow morning, I'll head to Tujunga to pick up a "7" Reverse Mount Stem", then have it installed nearby at a place they will recommend. The stems come with a "stabilizer." This is recommended to dampen the "heavy" TPMS sensor from bouncing and rubbing against the wheel cover. I'll try to remember to take photos. I'll have to go through this all over again when I'm scheduled to get new tires this summer. Kathy L.
