Sliding Door on the Screen Door

Our OEM sliding door on the screen door is warped, which allows small flying critters to enter where they're not wanted.  I've tried several things to unwarped this piece, but at the end of day it remains warped.  I found some replacement sliding doors which are made of stiffer plastic, but I haven't figured out how to install a piece which will probably not bend in order to place it in the grooves.  I'm guessing that the screen door cross pieces above or below the sliding door need to be removed in order to install the stiffer replacement.  If that is the case, are those piece pressed into place since there aren't any screws or fasteners?  If I break that screen door trying to replacement the smaller sliding door ... let me just say I'll be in BIG trouble.

For what's it worth, this morning I made 3 trips up to the LD roof and 3 trips down.  (I lubricated the TV antenna worm gear, which now goes and down like a Swiss watch.)  While it wasn't too difficult to go or to go down, I can see in another few years those trips will constitute a full workout!  That's a day that I'm not looking forward to.

At any rate, I'd be grateful for guidance on that sliding door.  Take care.

I replaced the slider on my screen door a year or so ago; this is the OEM replacement for my 2003, but yours may be different. It just a "squeeze, fit into the slots, and let loose" deal; no removal of door parts necessary (or desirable).

Thank you Joan.  Just what I hoped to hear. We've a local RV parts show that has these in stock, so I'm taking my OEM and finding its match tomorrow.  I may be disappointing a whole herd of flying critters, but then that's life!

.040 aluminum will work, its flexible enough and you can buy it powder coated. I used it on my 88 MP. The problem is where to find it. I you are in a local town, look for a sign shop, call them and see if they have it, they should, and if they do, they can cut it to your specs. Good luck

I learned the first time to stuff a towel or other object under the hatch cover when you go up on the roof... :)

As already said, just flex the slider and pop it in.
 I could find only a couple sizes of replacement slider. Neither fit out 1997 MB. The better of the two was a little short to stay in the top of the track. I added a piece of aluminum at the bottom to cure that. The original slider also came with an aluminum (factory-installed?) stiffener on the handle end, and the replacement slider didn't, so I fabricated a stiffener for the same spot on the new slider.
 Hopefully, your replacement will fit like a glove and not require any modifications.

We're appreciative for the guidance on this small matter.  We found an OEM exact replacement made by Valterra.  Their part number is A77018 (white) and is a perfect fit.  This was our last project on a list of nearly 50 items that we have been working on since the beginning of September.   The list included maintenance, preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and the inevitable adjusting, rearranging and cleaning.  Did I mention this was the LAST one on our list!  LOL  One of the unintended benefits of crawling over every square inch of our much loved LD was to discover for ourselves the true build quality of this motorhome.

We've learned a tremendous amount during this process, which as everyone knows, translates into RV confidence.  However, let me be the first to say that I'm still clueless about tires, valve stems, heating & AC systems, all the appliance repairs, and so much more that it makes my head hurt.  So at the end of the day, we'll be back at LifewithaLazyDaze asking for help once again.

At any rate, I must say, it's a great feeling to know that yea ole' LD is in as good a condition as we know how to make her and that she is ready to take us on the road.  We leave for our next 4 day trip later this week.
