Awning Strip

Hello all.

We have a 2004 30'LD (La Casita) and was wondering if anyone else has an item on theirs that we have on ours.  I had called Vince at the home plant and he said it wasn't original.

Anyway, where the awning attaches to the side of the coach, ours has a rubber like channel that runs "MOST" of the length of the awning.  It stops short not long after passing the entry door.  To me, it looks like it is there to prevent rain and debris from falling down behind the awning. Actually a rain guard in my mind.

Ours is starting to curl up at the front end of it and as we drive it peels back further and further, so I am wanting to replace it but have no idea what it is or where to get it.  Any suggestions?

Hi Bud. Probably a stick on rain gutter from camping world or other stores.  If you can peel it off easily you could just leave it off, but most likely a  dried out strip of double sided tape would remain above your awning. You could  replace the tape with newer tape and stick it back on, or replace the gutter  with new gutter. It is to keep dirt from the roof from running down behind the  awning. Rain, dew, or lake newton. HTH RonB

Bud, Fiamma makes an accessory rubber strip - sort of S-shaped, that slides on to the back of the awning and fills the gap between the awning and the LD side to prevent water from running down the side between the awning and the coach. I installed one on my previous awning ('02) and have not put it on my new one (because of wind damage) because it was so hard to install. Still may do it. That said, what you describe does sound like a gutter. EZE Gutter maybe???
