Do any of the members go to Quartzsite for the winter.

What is there to do?

Do you ride ATV's there?
I'm under the impression that they do have a great Flea Market there.

I do not play Golf tho.

Lots to do in Quartzite. Off-Roading either with 4X4 or ATV probably tops the list. I do both while there. The "Big Tent" has numerous vendors catering to the RV/Camper but they sell just about anything. Camping dirt cheap at the BLM sites with access to water and dump station. Good rockhounding opportunities. There is a Lazy Daze event at La Posa West coordinated by Roger Nickey starting beginning of Jan. Very informal with potlucks, happy hour, campfires, etc. Lots of nice folks. Good hiking opportunities. Bring most needed supplies. Just a small Supermarket at Quartzite. Laundrymats available. Walmart and numerous stores nearby in Parker, AZ. I don't golf either LOL.

We drove through Quartzsite pulling our sailboat on the way to the annual "Havasu Pocket Cruiser Convention". Couldn't believe how many snow birds migrate there for the winter!  The place turns into a ghost town as the weather warms up.

We're not desert people, so it always amazed us to see these beautiful HUGE RV's parked out in the middle of nowhere.

The Roadrunner Market on Main Street has expanded and has a very good selection of fresh produce, meats, and other items generally found in a grocery store. Prices are more than the Albertsons in Blythe or the Wal-Mart, Safeway, or Bashas in Parker, but when you factor in the amount you'd spend on fuel to get there, it's probably a wash.

We are tentatively planning to use our recently purchased LD to tow our sailboat to a regatta at Lake Pleasant NW of Phoenix in January. We normally top off our fuel tank at Quartzsite so maybe we'll have to stop in for a quick overnight visit on our way to or when returning from the regatta. This will be the first distance towing of our sailboat with the RV. Our retirement plans call for some extensive travels around the country with our sailboat, and that was one of the main reasons we purchased our 23.6 TK. Big enough for my First Mate and me to be comfortable during some extended adventures, yet small enough to easily maneuver around the launch ramp.

The biggest event is The Quartzsite Sports, Vacation, & RV Show which will be January 17-25, 2015.

It's fun, but there are lots of people.
Near Quartzsite closer to Parker is the "infamous" Desert Bar (a.k.a. Nellie E. Saloon), which is powered completely by solar.  The bar is only open on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6:00 p.m., and has an assortment of hot sandwiches.  A live band plays.  Not a "drive to" for the faint since you have to travel five miles off the main highway on a dirt road.

Not to be missed is Silly Al's Pizza.  It's surprisingly good pizza for being in such a small desert town.

Reader's Oasis is a bookstore in Quartzsite owned by Paul Winer who has a penchant for wearing nothing but a strategically placed crocheted "sock" to cover his most "private of parts." http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/31581

Pirate's Den is one of favorite places to go when in Parker.  It's an RV resort with a restaurant.  The restaurant has a daily happy hour, with a beautiful deck right on the Colorado River.

In my opinion, Quartzsite is like a "playground for retirees."  It's fun to go for a couple of weeks during the RV show, but that's about my limit.  However, your "personal mileage" may vary...

Don and Debbie,

If you haven't added a front receiver hitch on your LD, you might consider it. It sure makes trailer maneuvering in tight places and boat launching a lot easier. Just search for E-450 front hitch.

Junah and I are currently parked out in the huge area behind the Carls Jr. diner...weather is wonderful, sun is shining and it's a balmy 70 degrees @ 11am.
No others here just yet, but expect it to start filling up. There are SO many sites to boondock for free, and then there's the various BLM areas, some with water and dump facilities to choose from.
We hope to join Roger's group in January for a repeat of last years's GTG...and another shot at the "Big Tent" vendors.

It's a hoot and well worth a visit!
