Options not on options list?

Does anyone know exactly what "hidden" options are available in addition to those shown on the Lazy Daze website options list? For instance I know LD will install a few "extra" electrical outlets.

Also, will the factory pre-wire a 31 chassis with all cables required for the Winegard Traveler antenna, which is the only antenna that captures a DTV HD signal?

Use the telephone and call the Mothership.... ask for Todd.  Todd handled all our needs, questions regarding the purchase of our new 31 Island Bed with all the bells-and-whistles....  :)

I imagine they will, but ask Todd to be sure.  They will reinforce the area where you want the Trav'ler installed.  It's too bad they don't offer the Trav'ler as an option instead of, or in addition to, the next to useless crank up dish or dome.

Hopefully you are right.

I'd love to hear from an LD buyer who got the factory to prewire and reinforce their new coach roof to make it ready for the Winegard Traveler Direct TV HD antenna.  Paying LD $1200 to install an old-technology SD (standard definition) Direct TV antenna is dumb.

--- Why not just call the factory, explain exactly what you would like to have done to prep the LD for the antenna you want, and ask Steve (or Todd) if they will do this?

are you talking about the batwing antenna- for local tv or the satellite dish antenna.  I have a used 2005 30 foot IB.  I bought and had installed a king dome satellite antenna for dish network---installed locally by an RV tech it was was $800.00 and it works great.  I am sure King dome is made for direct tv also. david

No, he's talking about a Winegard Trav'ler, a roof-mounted, open-faced, multiple-LNB automatic dish that can "see" all three satellites at the same time.
 A dome -- any dome -- is not really a good choice for DirecTV unless you are not interested in HD programming since a dome can only get DirecTV's SD programming.  By the same token, a manual crank-up dish also cannot receive DirecTV's HD programming.
 A dome with Dish is OK *IF* you are only watching one TV and you do not have a DVR.  If you want to watch two different programs on two different TVs or you want to watch one program while recording another, you cannot do so with a dome *unless* both of the programs in question are on the same satellite.
 Domes and manual crank-up dishes are "old" technology given their limitations (which, IMO, are huge).  Of course, if you don't care about HD programming, then either a manual crank-up dish or a dome will work fine for DirecTV.  But most of us who are serious TV watchers want HD.  In fact, we're seriously thinking about getting one of the new 4K TV's...the picture on those are amazing!  (Not for the RV, of course, since I think the smallest size they come in is 55.")

Not so.  Dish is completely different.  Directv uses multiple satellites for HD and you CANNOT receive HD and some other DTV goodies unless you have a Winegard Traveler antenna.  FWIW, I get every NFL game DTV.  That matters to me but not to a lot of others.

FYI, Dish also uses multiple satellites (110, 119, 129 for Western Arc...Eastern Arc uses different satellites). A dome is able to toggle between these satellites based on the channel you select. But, a dome is still able to "see" only one satellite at a time.
The biggest difference between Dish and DirecTV when you're using a dome is that you can view Dish's HD programming.

We find the dish tailgater is the best for us.  We get all 3 satellites. We use it at home as well as on the go.

Has anyone persuaded the LD factory to prewire a new LD for the Winegard Traveler DirecTV antenna?

(Dish is a good service but it doesn't provide every NFL game.  DirecTV does.)

I am not entirely sure if I understand your question, but I just bought a brand new 31 foot Island Bed.  I purchased the Bose enterainment center over the cab.  I have a perminent Direct TV Box installed into my rig supported by the automated satillite dish on the roof.  I get all the games from DTV when we are on the road with the simple push of a button.

My understanding:

High Definition (HD) from Direct TV comes only with the Winegard Traveler antenna. The Kingdome that LazyDaze installs provides only standard definition (SD) reception. Obviously I can live with SD but after years of big screen HD I'd miss it.

Your understanding is correct (although you can use a ground-mounted open-faced multiple-LNB dish, too...it would require manual setup).

Right, but IMO it's not an attractive option to haul that Big Boy around, setting it up and knocking it down.
I don't understand why LD doesn't show as an option to pre-wire for the Traveler antenna.

But then, I recall Ed Newton telling me why he hated to install an automated crank up antenna on our 2004 LD.  I rolled over and settled for a manually-aimed antenna. What a pain in the butt that was.  ;-))

We had him install another 110v outlet on the end of the curbside upper cabinet closest to the upper bunk, $100.00. Could not talk him into placing the electrical outlets closer to the floor. We hate hanging cords so will have to do the conversion ourselves!
