Fresh water drain valve August 25, 2014, 12:35:10 pm Yahoo Message Number: 148135Has anyone had to replace their fresh water drain valve? We just tried to sanitize the fresh water tank our new to us '97 26.5' MB and found it completely stuck. Any help would be appreciated as we are newbies. -Marcia & Ed '97 26.5' MB "The Dude"

Just take the straps loose and peel away all the sealant (ours was caked with it). Once the straps are loose, you can carefully pull the PVC pipe away from the wall which will allow you to unscrew the old valve. Be gentle so you don't crack any of the PVC pipe that heads up to the tank. Just note whether your pipe has a male or female (adapter) end to it after you take off the valve, so you'll know what to get at the hardware store.jim 26 1/2 MB

If it's threaded, hopefully you can unscrew it from the pvc pipe and replace it with another metal valve. I chose a pvc valve due to the cost and the large opening to drain the water quickly. If your new valve is pvc and needs to be glued on, you'll just need to cut off the threaded end of your existing pipe, purchase some pvc glue and a combination of male or female fittings to attach your new pvc valve to. You could also just glue a male or female end threaded piece to your new pvc valve and then screw it back on to your old pipe.Jim

The date is 27 Aug but I do not know the year. Also take a look at Techsnoz article 50. This would be a perfect time to make a very useful mod. Here is the text of Larry response to the above mentioned thread. "" 'I suspect there is a trick to this filling. Please enlighten me." Some LDs have filler inlet hose that are bent at a sharp angle and will not fill quickly, no matter what type of filler you use. If the previously mentioned fillers do not work satisfactory for you, a bottom fill system will. I built one for our LD and can run the hose at full volume, filling the tank in a few minutes, as fast as the hose's output allows.
