Rubber Weatherstriping

The rubber weatherstriping above the entry step on our midbath is coming off (about half is still attached).  One repair option would be to apply an adhesive to reattach it.  Another option would be to take the entire strip off and reattach an entirely new strip.  Anyone have any suggestions on the preferred way to go and/or what adhesive to use?

Thanks,

Paul H.

Depends on the condition of the existing weatherstripping.
If the rubber is still in good shape, use solvent to remove the old adhesive, where the rubber has fallen off and then re-glue it. If the other half can be easily pulled off, do so and then re-glue the entire strip.

Lacquer thinner or 3M adhesive cleaner work well.
3M™ Clear Liquid General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, 1 qt Aerosol Can | Staples®

3M weatherstrip adhesive is a good choice.
