Transmission Remake February 14, 2014, 03:50:34 pm Yahoo Message Number: 145037Upon checking our transmission at Sanderson Ford RV and Truck Dept this week, it seems that we have to have a remake. The transmission has been slipping over the past 5000 miles and the mechanic has checked out everything on our 1998 MB LD (101,000 miles). Seems as though the Ford V10 450 trans will hold up for 100,000 miles or so. Then...be wary. To buy a rebuilt trans at Sanderson Ford csost about $3600 for everything (3 year warranty).But...in the LD Companion, I saw comments about having a transmission remake at Team Ramco in Yuma for $4000+. Evidently they do a superb job. Any comments or suggestions would be helpful and appreciated. David

I believe your rig has an AOD or a 4R70. Just do an on-line search. There are well known companies in the drag racing community that do superb work. These transmissions are redesigned and rebuilt to take LOTS of abuse. Of course you will need to have it installed. Beware that if you go this route, talk to the outfit first and get their recommendations. Racing trannies can shift very harshly.Otherwise I would go with the longest warranty outfit.Chuck 97RB Skye @Yuma
