Dry cleaning of curtains November 17, 2013, 11:07:50 am Yahoo Message Number: 143660To DJ Harris; I'm not familiar with the grommet and slides you have. My curtains are held on with metal drapery hooks. The slides I got from the mothership, I'm pretty sure, were identified as Delrin. I sewed them onto my curtains to avoid the metal hooks. That is a Dupont homopolymer acetal compound. Most dry cleaning places still use perchloroethylene as the working chemical, although evidently California is forcing a change to safer chemicals by 2023. (Wikipedia). I found a chemical resistance chart for Delrin at omsdive-dot-com/delrin_chem_chart-dot-html that showed the Delrin as having a good resistance to 'perc'. Depending on the nature of soil on the fabric, and the fabric condition, I would probably try washing with a regular washing machine first, but of course, you might need new curtains if that didn't work out.
