"The Mountain Directory"
Yahoo Message Number: 142908
"The Mountain Directory" is a very valuable travel resource and "grade/dicey road" guide, particularly for the western states. (An edition for 11 eastern states is also available.)
One can order the printed book(s) and/or e-book version from the website (http://www.mountaindirectory.com/) or the printed book(s) from Amazon and other sources.
Obviously, the book doesn't include *every* steep grade or mountain road (particularly for the eleven western states that the western edition covers), but the listings are extensive, and there is a section of reader-suggested inclusions at the back of the guide(s).  The latest publication date is 2006, but, AFAIK, the road information is still current.
YMMV, but I've used the MD since its first publication, and believe that it's a must-have resource for large vehicle travel anywhere in the U.S. out of the flatlands.
