Onan Microquiet insulation falling apart
Yahoo Message Number: 142698
I have a 2003 LD, with an Onan Microquiet generator.
There is a black foam insulation aft of the fan that has started to disintegrate around the edges.  Small pieces break off along the edges and collect in a small pile under the oil fill (from swirling air movement).
I think the deterioration is the result of old age, but I'm not sure what to do about it.  Ignore it?, tear out the rest of the black foam insulation?, try and find a replacement?
Has anyone has a similar problem?  I tried a search, but the archives have been ...well.. yahooed!

The foam is sound proofing. You can break away any loose pieces, those likely to get sucked  into the engine cooling system. Replace it if the generator's noise gets to be too much.

The disintegration, it is the result of age and heat.
