One Step forward, two steps back

Well, there's one feature I don't see on this new format and that's the ability to go directly to the next message without having to go back to the message list.
 Anyone know how to accomplish that on this 'NEW' monstrosity we apparently have to live with, like it or not.

Steve,  Next to the reply there is a pair of horizontal bars with two vertical arrows, one up and the other down.  Press that and you will see all the topics

 Well, for me at least, that only appears and only applies within a given topic and even then it says; "Expand Messages" and "Collapse Messages" while doing nothing useful that I can discern.

Well my friends I like the interface.   Reminds me more of the old RN of unix days.   All threads can be sorted by topic, message order or tends.   Yes nobody asked my opinion before or after the change.
I like being able to see the whole thread before I respond or add any new information.   I like being able to see all the images rather then having to chick on each folder then click on each image so I can see what is
