propane detector problem April 07, 2013, 08:34:16 pm Yahoo Message Number: 138117To start with: my propane detector screamed at me on the road a couple of years ago. I stopped driving, didn't smell anything (all the windows were closed and the a/c turned on) so I just pushed the button to turn it off. About 2-3 miles up the road it did it again and I took out the fuse. When we got to our destination in the afternoon I put in a new fuse and didn't have any other problems with it. Then it went off again last Jan. and I put in a new fuse. I also had a tech check things out and he said he could not find any propane leak. Then it started going off and on periodically a week ago. When it went off twice during the night a few days ago, I took out the fuse again. I wonder what is wrong. I don't want to be without it but waking up to that sound is unnerving to say the least. Does anyone know what my problem is?Thanks muchlyJudy Wms. Blue '07 RB "Dog Daze" White '09 Scion "Puppy Daze" And all the fur kids

False alarms are typical of old propane detectors, and yours is a good six or seven years old (depending on how long it sat on the shelf before your rig was built). You can get a new one from any RV dealer, or find it on Amazon. Installation is simple: undo two screws, pull out the old one, and undo a couple of wire nuts to disconnect it from 12 V. Reverse the procedure to install the new one.Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels/
