I need a good idea please
Yahoo Message Number: 137195
I have a suction cup mount for an iPad that I want to mount on my doghouse. Of course it doesn't stick very well there and I'm thinking of gluing a small piece of glass on the doghouse surface for the suction cup to stick to.
But I'd rather not glue something on there that I can't get off when I'm ready to sell, and besides that may not be the best solution. It's just the first one I've thought of.
Does anyone have any successful experience with this sort of thing that you could pass on please? I'd be grateful.

Chuck, I would do a google search for Ipad holders for car.  Here is one that fits in the cup holder.  There are all kinds.

I use a bean bag with my iPad and it stays in place no matter where I put it, as it has enough heft to hold itself without any additional help.  This bean bag idea comes from Andrea E. and it was purchased from http://thinkpad.com

I have the basic model, not the slider.

Rand McNalley sells a gizmo they call a dash mount disk, which sticks to the dash or??? It has a smooth upper surface to hold onto a suction cup.  They claim the adhesive comes off cleanly.

I got my beanbag iPad holder from Woot last May or June and I haven't seen it offered since, however it is available at thinkvp.com. I love that I can use it and it will stay almost anywhere. I don't find it great for the dash myself as it takes up too much visual windshield area for me.

Well, thank you all for the great ideas. The mount I have was a gift so I was trying to make it work. It turns out that I hadn't even realized that an adhesive base was made that you can then stick the suction cup to. When I saw that I went to the website of the manufacturer of my mount (which I should have done in the first place) and they have adhesive stick-ums. So I'm in business.
By the way, the company that made the mount I have is called Ram Mounts (www.rammount.com) and they make all kinds of mounts for all kinds of products... including mounts for airplanes, bikes, motorcycles, boats, cars and RVs of course, and more. As you know I haven't tried mine yet but it seems sturdy and very well made. So if you can't find a mount for what you want to install, this may be the place.

Thanks again for the great ideas and your thoughtfulness.

I am a fan of Ram Mount products. I use one of their mounts for the large screen Garmin GPS in our LD. I bolted the mount directly to the doghouse, since mount vibration can affect the readability of the GPS while driving. Their mounts are very well made, and are available for many different products.

I am also a fan of RAM mounts, but couldn't find the one I wanted, and I was concerned about vibration. What I did  is kind of red neck, but it works VERY well. I found some large suction cups, with bungee cord loops attached, stuck then as low as possible on the windshield, spaced about the width of the iPad. I then took another bungee with hooks and hooked one end to each suction cup creating a loop that reaches to the edge of the dash. I then hand the iPad by sticking the cover flap down behind the loop, with the iPad laying against the dash.. NO vibration, easy to see, and easy to operate....by the passenger of course .
