Winter improvements review
Yahoo Message Number: 137018
Our recent trip to Tucson gave us the first freezing weather test of two "winter" improvements to our SOB.
 - Andy's cabover bed insulation technique worked wonderfully! What used to be an uncomfortably cold bed at the front of the cabover is now warm everywhere, and we no longer need to use the electric blanket (which was often powered by the batteries). The modification was effective, easy, cheap, reversible, and looks good - a total win.

- The $25 digital Hunter thermostat that replaced the original mechanical one does a superb job, keeping room temperature swings so small, we rarely notice them any more. The old one cycled between too hot and too cold. A great value, and an easy installation with only two wires.
 - While not winter related, the replacement of the filament "tail light" bayonet style bulbs with LED bulbs resulted in better lighting that is "free" by comparison. For example, we can turn now on all five fixtures in the dinette/couch area for less current drain than one previous fixture using the old filament bulbs. Turns out, life is more pleasant with more light - who knew? While I prefer the "warm white" color, bumper is right that it's easier to read and do some tasks with the cooler colors, so we have those in a few places where seeing well is more important than color preference. Dual bulb fixtures got one of each color.
