Living Long Term With Arby - Doing the HPV-22 DIP Switch Thing

Arby's solar charge controller isn't very "smart". As installed by Lazy Daze, it will happily overcharge the house batteries and cook the water right out of them if you don't monitor them carefully.
Because of Jon's effort and contact with AM Solar tech support, I was able to put the fix on Arby today. It only took a couple of minutes to do the deed including taking pics of the process.

Many thanks, Jon,

Taking the panel out to change a DIP switch setting is workable, but inconvenient. Has anybody tried paralleling that DIP switch with a toggle or slide switch mounted in the HPV-22's panel? If you have the soldering skills to tack a couple of small wires onto the DIP switch's terminals on the back of the board, this would give you a close approximation of the HPV-22B at minimal cost.

I'm no stranger to a soldering pencil, Andy, but I would be reluctant to try it.
On a side note, did you notice that the #1 switch is for a temperature compensation sensor that LD opted not to install?
