crack in cabover April 15, 2012, 09:54:07 pm Yahoo Message Number: 129877We just noticed an eight to ten inch curved crack between the two faux windows on the front of the cabover. Any ideas on the best repair option? It's a '98 26.5 mid-bath with just over 100K. Thanks.

If you push hard on the crack, can you feel it move, indicating a through crack. It seems like an unusual place for a crack. If it is cracked all the way through, the first thing to do is to stop-drill it. Drill a 1/8" hole at each end of the crack. This will usually stop or slow down the progression of the crack. Temporarily cover the crack with some type of waterproof tape. Eternabond tape works well. To repair it, it will need to be patched from either the outside or from the inside (after some of the paneling is removed). Patching must give additional strength to the area to reinforce the crack and to counteract the stresses that caused the crack in the first place. A flaw in the framing that bent or twisted the cap could be the cause. I would give the Mothership a call for suggestions and advice.Larry
