Storing for the first time January 16, 2012, 11:02:47 pm Yahoo Message Number: 127883Hi Everyone, After living in my Lazy Daze for more than 4 years, I'm storing it for the first time. I don't see a procedure to prepare the motorhome for storage in the owner's manual, other than winterizing the water system. Is it necessary for me to winterize the water system (use compressed air or anti-freeze) in the San Francisco East Bay? We don't get many days below freezing. I tried searching the archives, but that always seems to bring up a bunch of messages that have nothing to do with my search terms. I have 2 solar panels, and the motorhome will not be hooked up to electric. It will be stored outside. Right now the black and gray tanks are empty, and the fresh water has about 1/3 tank. In the owner's manual it says to leave the valve to the gray tank open when storing it to prevent algae from growing in the tank. Does that mean with the tank valve cap on or off?Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Heidi 2006 30' IB http://travelswithrylie.blogspot.com

I've stored in Livermore for 10 winters and never worried about freezing.Perhaps put a few ounces of bleach in the fresh water supply to forstall algae. And flush out the bad taste in the Spring. I like to put a healthy dose of tank treatment into each drain trap.Use Stabil in the gastank and run Stabilized fuel into engine and generator. If your roof-hatches have weather-shields, leave one or more open for circulation.John

I don't drain tanks, etc., etc. and I've never had a problem. Unless our weather takes a drastic turn I'm not going to start worrying now.Steve S. Lazy Bone & Jiggs posting from Quartzsite
