I would like to remove the arms on the '02 cab seats to see if the seat covers I bought will fit.  Unzipping the arm cover and pulling it partially off, I find what looks like a hex bolt on which the arm moves up and down.  It it as simple as putting the right size socket on that hex bolt and removing it to get the arm off?

Yes, a socket (and maybe an extension) will remove this bolt and allow the armrest to be removed.  I've had ours off a couple of times trying to "tighten" them up.

Yes. 9/16? maybe larger.
If the arm moves too easily after putting it back on, use a little blue Lock-tite on the nut. And only on the nut, not the carpet, etc.
