pictures in emails

I am on one group that I have set to  digest. I got some thumbnail pictures imbedded in the digest email. When I  click on it, it takes me to the attachments page on that group's web site.

 Yes, it appear that "thumbnails" which are pictures stored on Yahoos servers do show up in the digest. I am pretty sure these thumbnail pictures are copied to yahoo LD pictures or emaied as an attachement to yahoo LD group.
 Copying a picture right into the text (which I have been calling embedded) do not show up in the digest.
 So it appears we have 2 ways of showing pictures.  Your opinion would dictate which is a better way to go.
