LD with a diesel October 08, 2011, 08:06:08 pm Yahoo Message Number: 125842Hi, For me a diesel only LD would be a deal breaker. Diesels are heavier, noisier, and are sensitive to water, algae like growth, and air in the fuel sysytem. Replacing turbos and injectors is expensive. They require more frequent oil, fuel, and coolant filter changes. Need bigger starting batteries. The new ones have particulate traps requiring regeneration, or you need to add urea to the exhaust for emmisions. Some use coolant cooled EGR coolers which can soot up in time. In cold weather you need to be careful about wax in the fuel. Since I do not accumulate many miles per year, I prefer a gasoline unit (Prefreably without a turbo or direct injection).Michael
