Re: Getting a nut loose Reply #2 – January 14, 2011, 01:15:46 pm Yahoo Message Number: 119586QuoteI have searched, but can't find what product one would use to loosen a nut from a bolt.... I use a wrench or socket set (nudge nudge, wink wink). Seriously, there is an old product called liquid wrench that may help. It is a mixture of solvents and lubricants that is a bit messy to use but is often effective. Put it on, let it soak overnight, then a second application often allows frozen nuts to be removed. If the location allows it to be done safely, use a propane torch to heat the nut, followed by a wrench. This is NOT safe around fuel tanks, brake lines, wood structure, etc. The trick is to heat the nut as quickly as possible without heating the bolt. The metal expansion of the nut breaks a bond created by rust, paint, etc..Ken F in AZ[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Re: Getting a nut loose Reply #6 – January 14, 2011, 04:33:21 pm Yahoo Message Number: 119591FWIW. I met a marine mechanic who swears by this approach. TIGHTEN the nut to break it free. Then loosen. Tighten again if it sticks. He also uses heat, liquid wrench, bust rust, etcEdward Abrams[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
