If you see a trail of small ( about 3/16 long) ( possibly pavement ants)heading toward one of your tires, wipe it out as soon as possible. They look like the army ants you see in S America.  When we returned to the LD late in the day, I saw two trails of ants leading to two tires. After wiping out the trails and putting an insecticide barrier around each tire, we have been trying for four days now to eliminate the ants that got on board the LD. Our  Hehr dual pane windows allow ants to readily enter the LD. There are places around the steps and outside compartments wherein the ants can enter the interior behind the sink and oven. If at all possible, stop the ants before they get in.

Get some of this stuff.
http://www.terro.com/products.php?product=liquid_ant_killer/>

Place it in their pathway and watch the ant party begin.
They will be gone overnight.

Available at most home centers.

Thanks Larry.  Good website.  I have sprayed Terro aerosol around each tire and they are no longer tracking to the LD.  Have Terro liguid ant bait outside and the ants are feeding. Now I am working on getting rid of the ants inside the LD. Best to catch them before they get inside. I am lucky they are not fire ants nor argentine since they bite.

Put a few drops of Terro on a piece of paper and place it inside your LD where you are seeing ants.
We get ants inside the house in winter and Terro works great at getting rid of them.
It does gross my wife out when the bait brings hundreds of ants out for a feast. The good news is that they are gone in the morning.
Terro is a sugar and borax solution and is a slow acting poison for ants. The sugar solution is gathered by the worker ants and brought back to the hive for sharing, the borax poisoning the whole group.

BTW,  Argentine ants do not bite, we have millions of them here.
I limit the use of pesticide outside since we have developed a large population of ant-eating lizards.
If I do find a large nest, it gets nuked.
