I'm new here so please be gentle.I would like to replace my reliable but, noisy diaphram pump and have considered a VSD pump. Problem is that I have yet to read a good review on any of them, even in the archives here. Does anyone have any first hand experience with these things and maybe a recommendation?....thanks, Mike.

All had different pumps. IMO, all pumps today are suspect. There does not appear to be a reliable pump built anymore. Our 2003 LD is on it's 5th pump. Wish I had better news but the drive to produce cheaper parts, by the various manufacturers, has lead to the development of the cheapest pump possible. This has lead to increased sales, a win-win situation for the manufacturers and a lose-lose situation for the rest of us. My only recommendation is to always carry an extra pump, preferably the same model to make field replacement a little easier.Larry

Perhaps a pump made in Germany or Japan might have the proper engineering...Mike Our '83 has its original pump. I did rebuild the pump innards once, but even that probably wasn't necessary. They can be made quieter, though. I replaced the outlet line with a soft, flexible hose that absorbs much of the pulsation, re-routed as necessary to avoid contact with the cabinetry, and used lots of thick foam insulation. It is much less intrusive now.Steve

For what it is worth, after going through a lot of SHURflo pumps over the first 6+ years, most of them the Sensor 5.7, the SHURflo Revolution pump they sent me in the summer of 2009 has been great. I have told a few of my LD buddies that it is like the Whisper King on steroids. I have no hesitation in reccomending the Revolution pump.Steve K. ( I have no financial interest in SHURflo)

For what it's worth, the Revolution 4008 makes more noise than my old Whisper King (which was still working when I swapped it out, so now it's my spare)... but it's a lot less noisy than some pumps I've experienced, and I pretty soon stopped noticing it.
