I'm on my third plastic shower roof cap on my 30", IB LD. Sun damage over it's 6 years renders it fragile and begins to crack and deteriorate within two years. I have now painted the outside of this new third cap with regular UV protectant white paint that's used on trailer rubber roofs. It's supposed to protect it from more sun damage. Also, it's helping to cool the shower room from the heat transfer on hot days. Cuts down on sun light, but it doesn't matter if the cap wll last more than just two years.

I need to paint the escape vent in order to protect/keep it a bit longer. I was told to only use paint for plastic which Lowes said was only available in a spray can. You used something for rubber roofs. I would sure like to brush paint on so as not to get any over- spray on my new satellite dish and solar panels. I was wondering if I sanded the top of the vent if I could use any paint that had a good UV protectant. Any ideas?

The paint I used was the standard rubber roof paint which can be purchased at any RV supplier. It is UV protecting white paint, kind of thick like latex paint and cleans up with water.
It went on easily, covered well, so I applied three coats. It's been on for only 6 months, but still looks great with no pealing or deterioration.
