The original announcement said; "... is waiving entrance fees...".
 Since those of us who hold the Golden Age Passport already enter the parks for FREE there is NO savings to be had there. Yes, as the message said; "...other fees apply..." you still save half price in the campgrounds but that's always been the cost for GA pass holders.
 So this 'something for nothing' deal does not affect us, one way or another.

But it is not free "camping" it is entrance fees
 Visitors should be aware that they will still have to pay the usual fees at campgrounds and concession stands, and any fees collected by third parties.
