Tow car baseplate issue/warning April 08, 2010, 11:31:43 pm Yahoo Message Number: 111672A few days ago, on our trip from Reno to Richmond/Williamsburg I noticed the baseplate on our Subaru Forester moved when I was plugging in the electrical cable. It turns out most of the mounting bolts were either missing or sloppy. The holes in the body were elongated. Jimmy's RV Repair in Deming NM did an outstanding job which required opening access holes in the body, installing backing plates and using schedule 8 nuts and bolts plus lock washers and Loctite. Lucky to find it before total failure. I estimate about 40K miles on this tow combo, much on lovely CA roads. FYI: regards from Carlsbad, NM: Jack
