End Cap Separation 1999 and earlier LDs
Yahoo Message Number: 108668
I received an email from Don McGlothlen, a former Lazy Daze owner who did a great deal of research into the causes of and "fixes" for the lifting end caps and posted his findings and experiences to this board. I'm passing along his message, quoted in its entirety:

"I extensively researched the end caps and how they were attached.
At the mothership, Steve told me that not all the LD had caulk troweled on the wood structure on those rear side wall to rear wall joints until about 1999.  He said Ed did not want him to use that much caulk.
So, if a person with an earlier LD leaves those end caps 'separated', they are going to wind up with wood rot where they do not want it and cannot see it until way too late!"
So, if you have an LD built up to about 1999 and are experiencing end cap separation, you might want to repair the areas quickly.  Later model LDs used a lot of caulk (per Steve at the factory) on the frame joints underneath the end caps.

HTH.
