I've seen at least one similar story, but I can't remember the author. It was a free ebook I downloaded from Manybooks.net a couple of years ago, and I believe it was a novelette from the Thirties. It's probably sitting here on my hard drive, but not knowing the title or author, I don't have a way to search for it.I'll look at manybooks.net. Thanks.a9 Andy, What a treasure you've pointed me to. I didn't remember this being a short story. The author is Neil Ronald Jones, the title is _The Jameson Satellite_ .I'll enjoy reading this one again.a9

It is about $225/year but as I understand it, You can camp for free in state parks without hook-ups and it's only four dollars for hook-ups. Sounds like a great deal to me.Annie Olson Silver 09 RB

Down here in Alabama it's subjected to high humidity and in the past 2 days 2 items have ended up on the ground. First was the end cap from the awning. The end cap was held on by tape and the tape, wrapped around itself, was hanging down, no longer able to stick to its own slick surface. This morning the small mirror attached to the large one had separated and dropped off.Are there products I can use that will hold up in our humidity?Georgia:[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
Re: fulltiming Reply #60 – September 18, 2010, 12:38:28 pm Yahoo Message Number: 116802"New Mexico has an annual [camping] pass... Sounds like a great deal to me." There's no state that offers a better deal. You could camp in New Mexico state parks with hookups year round for an average of less than five bucks a night, including the cost of the pass. Here's the URL for more information: http://www.emnrd.state.nm.us/PRD/FeesPermits.htmAnd if I may be forgiven for repeating it, here's the URL for my New Mexico State Parks Pocket Guide, which has much more information about the individual parks: http://www.andybaird.com/nmsp/See the "Extras & Tips" page (asterisk icon) for more about the NM park system.Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels/
Re: Need better adhesives Reply #61 – September 18, 2010, 12:44:22 pm Yahoo Message Number: 116803"Are there products I can use that will hold up in our humidity?" Georgia, I don't have suggestions for replacements, but it's worth noting that none of the items you mentioned is affected by humidity. Heat is a different story, though: adhesives can soften in high temperatures. Velcro is notorious for this, which is why I've switched to using 3M Dual Lock. My solar-powered entry light was mounted with Dual Lock three years ago, and has held on through tens of thousands of miles, summer and winter. For mounting jobs where you don't need removability, try 3M's Scotch Exterior Mounting Tape or their VHB (very high bonding strength) tape.Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels/

Out of the package the consistency is like honey; it's activated with a little water, and expands to sticky white foam. It Will Be There For Ever. Try a sample first.John

Posts & Kindle Reply #69 – September 19, 2010, 04:23:46 am Yahoo Message Number: 116826I would like to thank Andy for several times mentioning that only small parts of the original message should be included when replying to a post. Being consistent in putting a reply at the top of any old content is also very helpful. I recently joined another Yahoo group (Kindle Korner)and the posts in the Digest have so much of the old messages it is often hard to find where the new content is. As an aside, I have been a fan of the Sony e-Reader for some time (we have three of them), but we recently bought a Kindle 2, and I must say I am impressed and amazed by it (We now have a Kindle 3 waiting for us in the US). While on a boat in Croatia, I was able to use their 3-G 'Whispernet' (cell-phone network) to keep up with the news, check and send Gmail and to look up anything of interest using their 'experimental' browser. All with no cost except the original purchase price of the international model of the Kindle. It is slow, but it works. I don't know how long this free use of the internet world-wide on the Kindle will last, but I did read a review from 2007 asking the same question of how long Amazon would allow free use of the internet.Barry Where are we? http://map.datastormusers.com/user1.cfm?user=122

That being said, before I bought, I thought that I would like fulltiming. I bought, I sold my house, and jumped directly into fulltiming with no trial or practice. I made some mistakes along the way, but have never been unhappy with the decision to sell my house and fulltime.Ken F in OR

What Ken doesn't mention is that, being a methodical type (like me), he did extensive reading and research and asked lots of questions before jumping into a full-time lifestyle. True, he had no real-world RVing experience... but he's a smart guy, and he learned as much as he possibly could before going on the road. Doing his homework helped him to avoid a lot of bumps along the way.Andy Baird http://www.andybaird.com/travels/

Also, what is your downside if you sell the condo? If the worst that can happen is that you get tired of fulltiming and simply buy another place, possibly
Re: fulltiming Reply #73 – April 29, 2013, 12:56:33 pm Yahoo Message Number: 138743I agree with "What's the worst that can happen?" You can't really predict or prevent it. We had planned for twenty plus years of fulltiming. But sometimes it actually does happen, and at that point, you just have to regroup and make the best of what you have to work with. It has been over six years since we were forced off the fulltime road because of my husband's cancer, but over the years, we have taken several multi-month trips, and are planning a five-month one even as we speak. We feel lucky that we still have the comfort of each other's company, and that we can travel, albeit at a somewhat reduced pace! We were always "homesteaders", so to speak, even when we fulltimed, as we liked to stay in a given area for a really long time. We would start out for some particular destination, but frequently get side tracked. This time we are headed up 395 to see things that we haven't seen in twenty years, and then back up into the Pacific Northwest where we were when the health problem arose, to finish that tour. We may not get any further than Tuttle Creek, thanks to David's glowing report, but the plan is to get back to see what we missed in Washington and Oregon in 2005 and 2006.Wish us luck! ;->Virtual hugs,Judie http://dorrieanne.wordpress.com/Today: How to Build a Tostada Fabulosa

Tuttle Creek is also one of our favorites but not during mid-summer, it's way too hot. We prefer it in the spring and fall. The Alabama Hills, just to the north, offer great boondocking opportunities in an area that may be recognized as being the location of many western movies and TV shows.Larry
