For four years now, I've been unhappy with the entry stairwell. Mimi and Jonna removed the carpeting on the sides and replaced it with with vinyl, a huge improvement that I haven't yet gotten around to yet. But my main complaint is the rubber mat with the circular bumps. While i think it's just cute as the diskens, it's a real PITA to keep clean. The only way I've found is to just get down there with a wet rag and wash it. But that doesn't address the corners, where dirt always seems to collect and is almost impossible to clean.We found a gentleman here in Northern New Mexico who runs a little one man shop, taking old tires and recycling them into door mats. They're very cool, reasonably priced and you can pick the color of the spacers. A few weeks ago, we bought one to use as an entry mat outside the rig. It's plenty thick enough to not hold dirt and we've been really pleased with it. So I got to thinking about this, measured out the stairwell and went and talked with him. He said sure, he could do it. I asked the price and he said $8.00, WOW what a deal! I told him I wanted beige and forest green spacers to match the interior of Cholula Red. He told me to come back in thirty minutes And now, sitting in the rain of the season, I'm one happy camper. We can go outside and come in and the dirt and rocks sink right below the mat, making the inside of the rig a whole lot cleaner. And I like the way it looks! When I want to clean, I can just pick it up and clean underneath, but it looks really nice. The dirt up here in Northern New Mexico is really fine red clay, and it sticks to everything when wet. I measured the knobby rubber tread area of the step well in my 23.5' TK; it's 10 1/4" deep by 21 3/4" wide. *But*, the edges of the aluminum door frame cut into the depth, so I would think that 10 1/8" would be an accurate "working" measurement for the rubber step area depth and would allow the mat to lie flat.Are the above measurements consistent with what others have found?Joan

There were no responses to either message, so perhaps you and others could post the dimensions (floor measurement) of the step wells in their various rigs, and we can all find out if the measurements are consistent.Joan
