Mike and Lisa Sylvester, (the rvguy) checked over KoKo's systems this week. Happily, no problems were found. We thought it entirely worthwhile to invest the time and money to have all the major appliances checked even though we had no issues.
Their annual PM includes: Service water heater, refrigerator, evaluate operation of furnace, a/c and genset. Mike spent some time cleaning our water heater and it runs much quieter now.

As usual when we are around them, we learned things about our RV.

I am posting this because I suspect that a lot of the troubles that are posted here might be prevented with preventive maintenance.
Mike travels around the SW, so if you stay on the east coast you need another tech. If you would like to contact Mike, PM me and I will send you his address.

I know there are other good RV techs, but they are the only ones we know.

Thanks Joan!

One of the little things I learned from Mike was that an infrared sensor gun is useful for more than seeing how warm your cat is.
He used it to check the temperature difference between the intake and exhaust of our a/c. But, he also uses one to check how hot his tires and wheel bearings get. As soon as we get to a place with big box stores I am getting a new toy!!!! And I will be pleased to check your cat too. Sort of a cat scan.

Cheers, Don

Don,
Prolly the cheapest place to get and IR spot thermometer is at Harbor Freight. I've seen them for just under $10! (course those are little ones with about a 1 to 1 beam.
Cost goes up as the high temperature limit goes up and the beam width decreases. Still, you can get a decent one with a laser indicator for under $30.

all the best,
