Synthetic Fluids July 20, 2009, 02:04:26 pm Yahoo Message Number: 104031Hello!The previous owner of our 1997 RB used synthetic fluids, AMSOIL, AMZOIL, AMZOIL, in the Engine, Transmission, and Rear Axel, respectively.I discussed replacing same with a Ford Service Manager, and he had never heard of AMSOIL (which made me a little nervous), but suggested Ford sells their own synthetics. He also did not seem concerned with replacing AMSOIL, for example, with a different product. Can the existing synthetics in my V10 be replaced with Ford synthetics without a thorough flushing? What are the replacement intervals Ford recommends for synthetics?best, paul

Amzoil has been around a long, long time. As long as the replacement fluids have the proper ratings to satisfy your Fords owner's manual, you should be OK just changing the fluids. Fords recommended replacements intervals are going to be the same no matter what type of fluid you use. Check your owner's manual for the recommended intervals. My 2003 E450 owner's manual shows no difference between dino and synthetic oil.Larry
