San Diego Visit

Hi Pam - you've already got some great suggestions. If you're visiting anyone living in SD area, you might consider having them get a "Hometown Pass" http://www.trolleytours.com/san-diego/hometown-pass-san-diego.asp%c2%a0 (resident goes free with paid adult at $28, on line, so only $14 each when split). It's a great informative tour and you can get on/off at all the stops and catch the next trolley.
If I'm giving a tour I start in North County (live in Encinitas) and do the coast - Swami's, Cardiff, Del Mar, Torrey Pines (glider port), La Jolla Cove, Casa Cove, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach/Bay, Ocean Beach, Pt. Loma, Cabrillo National Monument, Shelter Island, Pt. Loma Seafoods (lunch), downtown waterfront (Star of India, Midway, Tuna Fleet, Seaport Village), then Coronado for the Del Coronado and a drive through beachfront streets to see some neat homes then Miguels/Brigantine for some Mexican and/or seafood.
More time to spend: Seaworld, Balboa Park and the Zoo and the Wild Animal Park. If you're a member, get a San Diego area map from AAA and/or go on line to checkout what to do/see in San Diego - there's so much.
With an early start, you can go from beach to desert (Borrego Springs) to mountains (Julian, Cuyamaca) in a day - don't miss Dudley's Bakery in Santa Ysabel.

Would be interesting to learn what you did experienced and enjoyed.
