Provo, UT to Glacier suggestions?
Yahoo Message Number: 102975
We are currently in Provo, UT and intend to head to Glacier over the next few weeks.
 Does anyone have any suggestions for an interesting route. We have been to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone so don't necessarily want to include them in our route.

Jim, I don't see many options from Provo but to continue up 15 to 287 to 89 until you get to hwy 2.  Then you will have to decide if you want West Glacier or East.  Going-to-Sun hwy prohibits any vehicle over 21'

Another possible route is over South Pass in Wyoming.  There is a neat historical site called South Pass City which has neat old buildings, a museum, and info on the gold industry and the history of South Pass. From Provo you would also go through Heber Canyon which is nice. After South Pass you would go through Lander, Riverton and Thermopolis.  There is a casino in Riverton if you are interested in that kind of thing and a really nice dinosaur museum in Thermopolis.  From there you can either go through Cody and up or through Greybull and up to Montana.  If you come through Greybull, we'd be happy to let you stay at our place for a couple of days if you like.  We have a small acreage outside of Greybull where you could stay for free.  We also have a dinosaur track site near here which we'd be happy to show you.

If you want scenic route and one of the most beautiful drives;

Take I-15 to I-90 West bound. take exit for hwy 12 head North Northwest. turn left on 141 around Avon turn left on 200 turn right on 83 turn right on 206 turn right on 2 to West Glacier.
 If you have GPS it will try and route you to Hwy 93 from Missoula.  Don't take this route due to construction and not the safest road.
 Not much on East side of Glacier other than Glacier but worth seeing and driving around.  Make sure you see Glacier lodge when on the East side.  Don't hang out or get off the beaten path
