Sealand toilet July 06, 2011, 12:27:17 pm Yahoo Message Number: 123433Bob: Thanks for the response. I did consider the riser, but determined that it sits on top of the finished floor . This would not solve the problem that I created when I installed the 1/2 inch underlayment, as the base assembly still mounts to the floor flange which is mounted to the original sub floor. The increased height of the new floor prevents re-attaching the plastic pedestal cover, as the cover is to tall. I will look closely at new toilets the next time I am in CW, but doubt that a new toilet would help. I think that the best bet would be to check with a plumbing supply company to see if I can located a 3" Diameter X 1/2 inch thick seal or gasket that can be installed on top of the floor flange, and under the base, raising the toilet 1/2 inch. In the meantime, I will just have to look at the black toilet base. Thanks again Wayne[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
Sealand toilet Reply #1 – July 06, 2011, 04:53:08 pm Yahoo Message Number: 123445"Any ideas"Wayne Here is what I would do, assuming the reason why you installed a sub-floor was to cover the bolts and that the Factory sub-floor is still in good condition.Remount the toilet in the original position by doing the following. -Remove the toilet trim piece. -Mark the perimeter of the toilet base with a Sharpie and then remove the toilet. -Accurately cut and remove the new sub-flooring from the inside of the marked circle, exposing the old floor. Use a chisel, router, Dremel, Zip-tool, whatever works for you to make the cut, just do not over cut the hole or it will be visible. Make sure not to cut too deep and damage the original floor. -Remount the toilet in the original position. -Cut the bottom off of the toilet trim piece, to make up for the height change, so it covers the edge of the cut floor.Larry
Sealand toilet Reply #2 – January 22, 2012, 03:41:58 pm Yahoo Message Number: 127954The Sealand toilet in my 07 LD will not not hold water in the bowl for more than a couple of minutes. I have cleaned the seal and put some petroleum grease on the rubber seal, but it still will not hold water for any period of time. Is there a fix or kit for this and how much of a royal pain was the repair? Thanks, Larry is South Texas

Re: Sealand toilet Reply #6 – January 23, 2012, 09:13:58 am Yahoo Message Number: 127966Shortly after buying our 2008 (new) we noticed that the toilet would not hold water. Brought back to LD and they said to take it to a repair facility that did warrenty work for the Sealand. So I did. Told the dealer the problem and he said "do you snap it shut?" No, I said. That's the problem. When you finish flushing move your foot off the pedal while all the way down, and the pedal snaps up. Never had a problem since. Mike
