Ahhhh, vindication feels soooo good. I've been using DEET and SkinSoSoft for years with good success.

According to the article, DEET is quite effective, but "Avon Corporation's IR3535-based 7.5% repellent [SkinSoSoft Bug Guard] provided an average complete protection time of only about 23 minutes," and "Studies have shown that Skin-So-Soft bath oil has a minimal repellent effect, and it is at least 10 times less effective than 12.5% DEET." That confirms what Consumers Union found when they tested repellents a few years back: SkinSoSoft placed at the bottom of the list.
