Inverter location on 30'

Since no one seemed to know where the inverter was on the 30', I emailed Steve Newton with the question and he said it is behind the under-the-refrigerator drawers.  The inverter now being installed is the Xantrex 400w.  Would this be the model he is referring to? http://tinyurl.com/yrgncc

According to Kate, LD installs a true sine-wave inverter.
The one you listed is a modified sine wave.

Modified sine-wave inverters are much cheaper than true sine wave.
They will run most 120-volt electronics and appliances but there are some electronics (some laser printers and the 120-volt mattress heater I first tried).
Before I would spring for a true sine-wave inverter, I would dry running the TV,  and whatever else the inverter powers, off a cheap modified sine-wave inverter, You will probably find that your electronics work fine.

We have been using a $28, 400-watt Xantrex inverter from Costco for several months with good results.

The only Xantrex 400-watt true sine- wave inverter I could find is the TS400, which sells for around $350.

I guess I'm a bit confused here.

Chris said that the factory is now including an inverter, located under the fridge.  It was my understanding that they don't usually include an inverter at all, am I wrong (again!)?

The only reason they put the inverter in Cholula was because, for a short period of time, they were still using Aquos TVs, and Aquos had discontinued the 12v model, so the factory installed the inverter in the entertainment center to run the TV, which is usually run on 12v.
It is the Xantrex 400 true sinewave, a nice silent upgrade.  We were (and still are) quite pleased with the inverter, but I thought it was just a surprise add on to run the TV.

So I guess my question is, are inverters now included on all LD?

Larry, thanks for the info.  Fortunately I don't need an inverter now for our '02 30'; I just wanted to be prepared for the future and now have plenty of info.  I have asked the question many times about where the inverter was on a 30' and no one ever could tell me!  The current inverter was made by Sure Power Industries and has functioned well.  I only received a one page warranty statement when I picked up the LD and it does not say what kind of inverter it is.  Guess I'll find out if it ever fails.

Kate, as I understand, the inverter was always included on any LD with an entertainment center, i.e., with the larger TV.  I don't think they are otherwise included but perhaps someone with an '07 or '08 model could tell us.

According to the specifications on the Lazy Daze website, the inverter is included as a standard on any model that has the front entertainment center:

"Entertainment center built in to the cab-over area above the passenger/driver seats, which includes: ...a 26" LCD flat screen stereo TV powered by a 400 watt sine wave inverter...."

I wonder of this was the case prior to 2005?

Okay, need some help here...

I've got a '04 30IB! There is no inverter under the fridge and I sure as h**l don't see one (out in the open) in the cupboards surrounding my entertainment center.

Where did they hide it, presuming I even have one?

My guess would be behind the TV. I have one in my 2002 there, and I run a power strip from it. I also followed someone's (Chris Horst, maybe???) directions to disable the feature that doesn't allow the inverter to be on when the ignition switch is on. We don't watch TV while traveling, but I like to use it to recharge camera, cell phone, etc.

Kate, I have an 06 -30' IB with the entertainment system including the Aquos TV.  My inverter (400s true sine wave) is located as Chris described, behind the lowest drawer, below the refrigerator.  Your inverter may be placed in the entertainment center and the difference between our units could be as simple as a design change.  Or, yours might be where mine is(?)
However, I do know that the Factory does install inverters for those units that have the entertainment system.

My 2000 30IB has one located under the refrigerator drawers as stated before. I'm not sure what model it is but it's there.

Have you physically pulled the drawers out and double checked?  I have removed my TV in my '02 and there is no inverter behind it - and you must have one since you have the entertainment unit.

Steve you probably do not have an inverter as I do not in my 2005 unit.
My tv and probably your tv are directly wired to the 12 volt system,

hence they don't need an inverter.

Thanks!  I was kind of sure that prior to ours (and others built around the same time) LD was wiring the TV via 12 volt, not with an inverter!
We spent a good amount of time discussing this with Steve, as when we ordered, he still hadn't decided how to wire the TV, since they didn't have any more 12v (at that time).

You've helped a lot, I thought I was losing my mind!

My guess is that the inverter/no inverter and location of the inverter, if you have one, is entirely dependent on the year of the LD and the model of TV you have in the entertainment center.  We do have an inverter in our '02 30'LD, because the LD owner's manual says so on page 41.  It just doesn't say what kind or where it's located!
To quote from the '02 manual: "The 30' models come standard equipped with a 20" remote controlled TV built into the entertainment center (optional on other models). This TV [Panasonic PV-C2022]is a standard 120V model.  An inverter (transforms the 12V battery power into 12V electrical power) is installed in the coach to specifically power the TV.
There is a switch located inside the cabinet just to the left of the TV.  When the switch is in the on position, the inverter is activated and the TV can be turned on. The inverter and TV electronics require 3/4 of an amp on standby.  Therefore, the inverter switch should always be turned off when the TV is not in use."  There's more, but you get the idea.
By the way, for those of you who may be contemplating replacing this TV, the instructions for how to remove it are on page 42 in our manual.  We may tackle this ourselves.

Thanks, I suspected something like this.

The only reason I know the model, etc of our inverter is that the manual, which is extensive and therefore quite large, was included
