Shut Off Valve - Hot Water Heater January 28, 2008, 01:54:52 pm Yahoo Message Number: 88972Just purchased a 2002 30" LD. Have not taken possession yet. I understand there is not a shut-off valve in front of the hot water heater to winterize it with anti freeze in our LD. Is blowing out with air pressure the only way to winterize without a shut off valvue. Is is difficult to install a shut off valve. Also we have an ice maker. What is the procedure to winterize the ice maker.Jim Pawnee IL Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! The shutoff valve is so that you can bypass the water heater if you put "pink stuff" antifreeze into the rest of the plumbing system. The antifreeze isn't needed in the water heater at all because it's easy to drain it thoroughly.Joanne in Boston NE-44

No need to winterize it now.Chris Horst Arvada, CO 2002 30' IB
