YUP, I couldn't agree more. However, it's time to pick your poison, bad publicity or no parks at all. There is another widely used solution; concessionaires. They already run many facilities across the nation, most of Colorado for example. We ran 60 campgrounds for the forest service through a concessionaire in Colorado and Wyoming. The locals were very upset about the fees but the parks remained open.
If you look at the proposed closures in California there is a striking similarity, the preponderance of facilities are on or near the beach. Could it be that these areas will be sold to developers multiplying the real value by, well you pick the number! After all, more condos would be a benefit to society wouldn't they? You all remember the beach don't you, there are lots of old photos!! Indio Todd
